Downers Grove Music Club is moving forward

The Downers Grove Music Club has a very long history here in Downers Grove – it was founded in 1927. Little by little we are approaching our hundredth-year anniversary. The club has always been focused on enriching the community with music through a variety of different means.

One is to bring music to the community. We do that mainly through our concert series each year, in collaboration with the library. The other side of what we do is supporting music education, which we have expanded over the years. …

Announcing our new concert season

We’re actually pretty excited about a new way of providing music to our community — streaming weekly concerts online — because it allows us to include musicians who find it difficult to perform on our Sunday concert days, and it allows us to reach a new audience beyond our local region.  We already have enough finished videos to last until early November and have confirmations from quite a few more musicians who are still working on videos for us. …

Our July 2020 newsletter is available

Dear Friend of the Downers Grove Music Club,

Our latest newsletter (July 2020) is now available. It is notable for a couple of reasons: it is the first newsletter published since the Covid-19 outbreak, and it is also our final newsletter of the 2019-2020 club year. While our 2019-2020 season ended on a silent note, our board continues to work remotely to strengthen music arts development in the community. We are very appreciative of our many members who have already renewed, as well as the generous donations we have received. Your steadfast support during these challenging times has enabled us to meet 100% of our student program support goals during the 2019-2020 club year. Read our latest newsletter for all the details about this unique club season in our 93 year history.

Note from President

As we have all been challenged by the events of the last several months, I would like to assure you that the DGMC has been working behind the scenes as much as possible to continue the good work of supporting music in the community. The DGMC may have been somewhat silenced but it is as strong as ever and looking toward the future.
