Note from President

As we have all been challenged by the events of the last several months, I would like to assure you that the DGMC has been working behind the scenes as much as possible to continue the good work of supporting music in the community. The DGMC may have been somewhat silenced but it is as strong as ever and looking toward the future.

While we had to cancel some of our beloved spring events -the Piano Festival & Competition Honors Recital, the Rising Stars Program, the March House Concert and the May Concert Series Program -the board has continued to meet remotely via Zoom to keep the club moving forward. We are pleased that we were able to continue with awarding the Student Music Awards to our very talented student musicians. We also have been working on a new kind of concert experience for the House Concert. (More information on both the awards and the House Concert is available in our July newsletter.)

An event that is currently in limbo due to the Coronavirus is our annual election, usually held in May. The board members’ whose terms are ending with this club year are VP Artistic Development Charlotte Ewing, Treasurer Janis Sleeter, and Member-at-large Rich Penner. All of these board members have graciously agreed to continue on until we can hold an election. I would like to invite the membership to consider serving on the board. If you are interested, please contact me at Stay tuned for information on how and when the election will be held.

Plans are continuing to be made for the 2020-2021 Club Year. We look forward when we can all meet again in-person and enjoy sharing music together.

Musically yours,

Gloria Salazar
