Duke Ellington’s “Reflections in D”

Chris Garofalo performs Duke Ellington’s “Reflections in D”

Jazz legend Duke Ellington is famously regarded as a bandleader and composer, but in reality he was also an exceptional pianist. During his prolific career, few of his recordings truly showcased his piano artistry; however, one that did was the 1953 album The Duke Plays Ellington. Later re-released with additional tracks on CD as Piano Reflections in 1989, “Reflections in D” is widely considered Duke Ellington's most important work as a pianist.
