Welcome to Downers Grove Music Club

Downers Grove Music Club (DGMC) is a nonprofit musical arts organization founded in 1927 in Downers Grove, Illinois. We believe the arts support vibrant communities, and we aspire to connect people to the musical arts and local artists through public concerts and education programs. DGMC also makes investments that strengthen musical arts development in our schools and community.

Each year DGMC offers free public concerts; sponsors a piano festival for local students; and recognizes talented high school students with music awards to help them further their studies.

DGMC also publishes a Directory of Music Teachers and a List of Accompanists, which is updated every two years and distributed to all area schools, libraries and music stores.

Our members include performing musicians (professional and amateur), music teachers, music students and non-performing music lovers. Members receive newsletters, special announcements, and a members directory. Membership is also open to ensembles and organizations, which benefit from increased visibility in the community through our members, events and website.

We're on summer break..

Our concert series has concluded for the season. However, we're excited about our 2024-25 season opener September 22nd featuring Storyteller Megan Well's riveting portrayal of The Life of Miep Gies. The program includes a three movement piano duet Divertimento composed during this time by Dutch composer Leo Smit. We'll have more details about our new season in coming weeks, so stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy recent video concerts! Just scroll down this page or click "See all events."

2023-2024 Concert Series Season Opener

Reginald R. Robinson

Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2 pm, Downers Grove Public Library

American jazz and ragtime pianist and composer Reginald Robinson has been called a “Chicago Ragtime wizard.” He was awarded the rare and distinguished John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur “Genius” Grant for his innovative ragtime piano works and music research. In addition to his dazzling performances, Robinson is well known internationally at colleges and universities for his lectures, which have contributed to preserving the legacy of African American music history. We are truly delighted and honored to have him perform and provide some of the stories behind his music for our season opener.
